Boston
Terrier
The Boston Terrier's early survival depended on loyal dog owners
in Boston. A mix of English Bulldog and white English Terrier, the
modern breed began with "Judge" and his immediate offspring
in the 1870's. To establish the breed, dedicated members of the
newly formed American Bull Terrier Club spent two years proving
that the dog would reproduce consistent offspring.
Standardization
of the breed followed, and today the dog wears a short, brown and
white coat. Although once street fighters, the modern dog displays
only gentle traits and makes an excellent pet or companion.
